Mapping Provenance
Every symbol this site outputs has a chain of custody. Here it is, in full.
Verification Date
Last verified: 2026-10-05 — re-verified with each release; the Quick Reference boxes across the site carry the same date.
Wingdings 1 (exact)
The primary table is cross-validated two ways: (1) glyph names extracted directly from the genuine Wingdings.ttf font file shipped with the operating system (cmap 3,0 + post table, via fontTools); (2) the character table of the longest-running Wingdings translator on the web (LingoJam, online since 2013). Anchor checks that passed both ways include: J = smiling face, L = frowning face, M = bomb, O = flag, Q = airplane, R = sun, S = droplet, T = snowflake. Extended keys follow the same chain: ü = check, û = ballot X, þ = boxed check, ý = boxed cross, ÿ = empty box.
Wingdings 2 / 3 / Webdings (curated)
Built from the genuine font glyph names of Wingdings 2.ttf, Wingdings 3.ttf and Webdings.ttf. Where a glyph has no exact Unicode code point, the nearest visual equivalent is used — the same approach every public converter takes; we are simply the ones saying so. Keys with duplicate values across alternate cuts decode to the first entry.
